S-INFO day

Are You a Grassroots Activist or Part of a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Fighting for Change?

As activist or member of a civil society/grassroots organisation, your mission is to raise awareness for a cause that will benefit society. You aim to reach everyday people, policy-makers, and those in positions of power, helping them understand the world from your perspective and inspiring them to act. Presenting clear, compelling facts is key to influencing how others tackle the issues you’re passionate about—and journalists can be your most powerful allies in this effort.

Journalists are tasked with uncovering and sharing truths with their audiences. As an activist, you have a vested interest in ensuring those truths highlight the problems you’re working to solve. When those stories align with your cause, they can become catalysts for change. That’s why we believe your role as an activist is vital to democracy.

S-INFO is Here to Amplify Your Voice!

S-INFO is offering you opportunities to boost your grassroots organisation, CSO or yourself as an activist and give you a stronger voice.

  • On 23 September, there will be a S-INFO Day dedicated to activists, CSOs and grassroots organisations, where we will explain how to participate in our project. To register, write a mail to communication@sinfo-project.eu

Learn How to Collaborate with Journalists and Amplify the Impact of Your Work

The S-INFO project is presenting CSOs registered with S-INFO with a hands-on opportunity to create new relationships with independent journalists through the following program:

  • We are offering a two-day training course in investigative journalism for independent journalists, aspiring journalists, and media activists in each of the four participating countries: Italy, Belgium, Romania, and Malta. During the course, activists, grassroots organisations, and CSOs will introduce themselves to participants with the goal of building relationships that could lead to concrete collaborations on specific stories. To find out when this training will take place in your country, attend the webinar on 23 September or check the links on this page.
  • Activists, grassroots organisations and CSOs will prepare a ‘press pack’ for course participants that outlines their cause and their work, their current areas of interest, and their contact details. These materials will be made available to journalists during the course.
  • Following the course, journalists will pitch story ideas – which must involve Activists, grassroots organisations and CSOs collaboration – to a S-INFO adjudicating panel. The panel will select the two best story pitches from each country, according to transparent criteria, and will award a prize of €5,000 to each of the eight winning journalists. Each winning journalist will team up with activists, grassroots organisations or CSOs to conduct the investigation within six months. S-INFO will provide a mentor who will help guide the team through the process of compiling the information and writing the story, for virtuous collaboration. A team of S-INFO editors will review the stories before publication, as well as getting them legally screened. The stories will be published on the S-INFO website and the partners’ channels.
