S-INFO seminar in Romania – No Democracy without Journalism

What is the border between journalism and activism? What is the current image of independent journalism? What does the journalist-activist collaboration look like? How much and how does the journalist’s work matter?

On April 15, 2025, London House in Bucharest Romania will host a pivotal discussion as part of the No Democracy Without Journalism campaign. The event will bring together journalism students, university professors, and professional journalists to debate the critical role of independent journalism in sustaining democracy. Under the title “No Democracy Without Journalism”, this gathering will explore how journalism can navigate political and economic pressures while maintaining its integrity in the face of misinformation and censorship. Participants will engage in discussions on the responsibilities of journalists, the role of academic institutions in shaping future media professionals, and the public’s role in safeguarding press freedom.
