Tools for Journalists

Independent journalism is essential for democracy, fostering informed and critical public debate. Today, the profession faces multiple threats, from disinformation and media concentration to physical and digital violence, which disproportionately affect women and gender minorities.

Sustainable journalism also values collaboration with activism, understood as social, cultural, and political practices aimed at change. In times of systemic crisis, cooperation between journalists, activists, and engaged citizens fosters collective knowledge and new narratives that influence public debate. Collaboration enriches journalism without compromising editorial independence, which must remain rooted in verification, transparency, and public interest.

This Toolkit for Sustainable Journalism supports journalists, editors, and media outlets committed to human rights and press freedom. Inspired by the S-Info Manifesto, it provides practical resources to promote safe, ethical, and inclusive journalism.

The toolkit includes two multimedia contributions: a video for the website and social media, and a digital handbook based on materials created for civil society organizations.
